I Spy

Making television history, this NBC prime time show was the first network television series to co-star a black actor, the critically acclaimed Bill Cosby, who won his first three Emmy Awards for his role on the series. The series was also the recipient of numerous Golden Globe awards. It was part of NBC's prime time line-up for three consecutive seasons, beginning in 1965.

Together, the iconic Cosby and Robert Culp respectively posed as a professional tennis player and a coach, but they often become involved in plots that surround international espionage.

The guest star list is impressive, including Carroll O'Connor, James Caan, Ron Howard, Cicely Tyson, Don Rickles, Eartha Kitt, Ricardo Montalban, Gregg Morris and Leslie Uggams. I Spy has been memorialized in countless television and film projects, including the renowned Kennedy Center Honors. The celebrated series is part of the permanent exhibit at the National Spy Museum, in Washington DC. The show is also now a feature motion picture released by Sony Pictures, starring Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson. Critics have been nearly unanimous in declaring the original TV series as superior to the film.
